SERVES 4 | PREP 5 MIN | COOK 5-7 MIN | LEVEL 3
Ingredients you'll need...2 slices white bread, crusts removed, torn
1/2 cup milk
1 medium brown onion, grated
2 cloves of crushed garlic
500g Beef/Pork Mince
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves (optional)
1/3 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
2 tablespoons olive oil
Flour (for coating)
-
Soak the Bread
Place the torn bread in a large bowl and pour over the milk. Allow it to stand for 5 minutes until the bread has absorbed the milk and softened. -
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
Add the grated onion, garlic, mince, lightly beaten egg, fresh basil, Parmesan cheese, and half of the chopped parsley to the milk-soaked bread. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients until well combined. Roll the mixture into balls, using about a tablespoon of mixture per meatball, and place them on a plate. -
Coat the Meatballs
Spread the flour on a clean plate. Roll each meatball in the flour, ensuring they are lightly coated all over. This helps create a nice crust when cooking. -
Cook the Meatballs
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes or until browned and fully cooked through.
Enjoy these meatballs on their own or pair them with your favourite sauce and pasta for a hearty meal. We can't wait to see how yours turn out, so be sure to share your photos and feedback with us!
