SERVES 4  |  PREP 5 MIN  |  COOK 5-7 MIN  |  LEVEL 3

Ingredients you'll need...

2 slices white bread, crusts removed, torn
1/2 cup milk
1 medium brown onion, grated
2 cloves of crushed garlic
500g Beef/Pork Mince
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/3 cup finely chopped fresh basil leaves (optional)
1/3 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
1/3 cup chopped fresh parsley leaves
2 tablespoons olive oil
Flour (for coating)
How to make Kid-Friendly Meatballs
  1. Soak the Bread
Place the torn bread in a large bowl and pour over the milk. Allow it to stand for 5 minutes until the bread has absorbed the milk and softened.
  2. Mix the Meatball Ingredients
Add the grated onion, garlic, mince, lightly beaten egg, fresh basil, Parmesan cheese, and half of the chopped parsley to the milk-soaked bread. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients until well combined. Roll the mixture into balls, using about a tablespoon of mixture per meatball, and place them on a plate.
  3. Coat the Meatballs
Spread the flour on a clean plate. Roll each meatball in the flour, ensuring they are lightly coated all over. This helps create a nice crust when cooking.
  4. Cook the Meatballs
Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, for 5 to 7 minutes or until browned and fully cooked through.

Enjoy these meatballs on their own or pair them with your favourite sauce and pasta for a hearty meal. We can't wait to see how yours turn out, so be sure to share your photos and feedback with us!
